Chicago Disarms Citizens Only for the Police to Put You on Hold...

Starting this week, Chicago police are changing their responses to 911 calls. They’ll no longer come right away to reports of things like criminal damage to property, vehicle thefts, garage burglaries, or other crimes in which the suspect is no longer on the scene, and the victim isn’t in immediate danger.

The move will free up the equivalent of 44 police officers a day for patrol duties.

It's a bit like the value judgement inherent in forcing trusted adults to leave children defenseless in the face of potential atrocity. Our government "says" to our schools:

'We deem this a gun free zone, and in such case that your children need protection we will not be there for them. And if the unthinkable occurs, the fault will be in the hands of gun owners across America.'
The value judgement?

Setting up the conditions in which children are murdered is worth the resultant increase in sympathy for communal action at the cost of individual liberty, or more simply, sacrificing the lives of children for increases in communal police action and decreases in individual liberty is moral.

If they can get away with it with children, why not the citizens of Chicago?
