House overrides veto of community college bill:
The bill allowed community colleges to opt out of a federal loan program. Democrats, who opposed the bill, objected to the override vote, calling it unconstitutional.
House Democrats objected to the vote, saying it was unconstitutional because the House hadn’t taken up the override vote immediately. The governor vetoed the bill in April 2011. A lawsuit pending in Wake County Superior Court over another override challenges the concept of waiting so long to attempt an override. That override was for a bill that took away the automatic checkoff of dues for the teachers’ association.
Although the Democrats may have a point about the delayed override vote, but really, resisting choice regarding community colleges and federal loans?
C'mon...
