N.C. Zoo may go private:
ASHEBORO — The North Carolina Zoo could rely less on state money under a proposal being considered by state and zoo officials.
The Randolph County attraction still would get $10 million from the state every year. But that’s $700,000 less than taxpayers spent this year.
